About

Bio

Pianist, arranger and the calm presence at the side of the room.

I've been playing professionally for more than twenty years. I was classically trained from a young age and went on to take a Master of Music at Newcastle University. Since then I've worked as a pianist and keyboard player across the North East and further afield.

I've had the privilege to record and perform in thousands of events, gigs, weddings, shows and studio sessions with a host of incredible artists, including Bonnie Tyler, Guthrie Govan, Nick Beggs, Shaun Baxter, Brooks Williams, Lorraine Crosby, Claypath and Smith and Liddle, as well as a good many musicians on the North East scene. I've played venues including Newcastle City Hall and The Glasshouse (the former Sage Gateshead). I also spent some time in Australia as a session player, recording extensively at Sundown and Crank studios in Perth and playing gigs and festivals across Western Australia.

Most of my solo piano work now is weddings and events. I arrange the songs people ask for rather than playing them off the shelf, and I'd rather the music fit the room than take it over. Before the day I'll talk the music through with you, suggest a few things if that's useful, and arrange whatever matters to you for piano. I regularly perform as part of duos, trios and larger ensembles. Do ask if this is something you'd like to add to your event.

Away from the piano stool I've had a career leading and lecturing on music courses and degrees in the North East, teaching piano and working on a wide range of music projects with the North East Music Hub.
